Episode #6: We’re So Tired

Sorry for the lack of energy this episode. We were both really tired, but we had to throw something together before Pedro went off to visit his family. Since he’s going to be with his family, there’s a good chance that this will be his last episode until sometime in January. Despite this tiredness, we managed to talk a lot about Star Wars, Watchmen, and a lot about Resident Evil!

I Need an Idea for Another Book

I have a few rolling around in my head, but nothing that sticks. This seems to be a reoccurring theme. I want to write another book for many reasons, but the main one is money. Since no publisher picked up my last one, my only real shot is by self publishing a bunch of books. The problem is figuring out what to write about.

I’ve toyed with the idea of writing a romance novel. It may seem cliche, but those stories sell. I say stories, because many of the romance e-books you see aren’t full novels. They’re 30-40 page novellas. I have nothing against this, just an observation I made. I don’t know if I could do that, though. My last book wasn’t exactly long, but I don’t know if I could make a story that short on purpose. If it ended naturally at 40 pages, then that’s one thing, but my ass is so long winded that that is probably not a possibility.

I don’t know. Maybe I’ll try writing an autistic romance novel. Seems like a market that’s been neglected.

Resident Evil 3 Remake Confirmed?

Well, one of the worst kept secrets is finally out. Eurogamer reported earlier today that official Resident Evil 3 Remake cover art leaked on PSN. As of yet, there has been no official announcement, but the screenshots look like the real deal.

It’s no secret that after the huge critical and financial success of the Resident Evil 2 Remake that Capcom would want to recreate that success, but the question was what game would follow it up? Before this, Capcom had shown off a new Resident Evil multiplayer game, Project Resistance, that many believed to be the next entry in the Resident Evil series. There was also the possibility that Resident Evil 8 would be next, but the cover art leak seems to put all of that to bed.

Now, we still don’t know the release date of the game, which I expect will be announced at this year’s Game Awards on December 12th, but considering that the cover art was leaked on PSN, it’s safe to assume to that RE3 will be the next Resident Evil game.

Another curious thing is that no where on the cover art is the word “Nemesis”. The big bad himself is in the cover art, but the subtitle seems to be gone. The official title at the moment seems to be either Resident Evil 3 or Biohazard 3.

Either way, I’m sure we’ll all find out more come December 12th.

Astral Chain: Review So Far

I have not finished Astral Chain. Just want to get that out of the way upfront.

This is a long overdue review, but there are reasons for that. One of them being that I’ve been busy doing a lot of different stuff, and the other is that both of my Joy-Con controllers have serious drift issues. I’ve since gotten a new controller, and I’m waiting to send in the Joy-Cons as we speak. The other reason it’s taking so long isn’t a great one. It’s that I just don’t want to play the game.

If I was getting paid, then this wouldn’t be a problem. It’s a job. Play and review the game. Easy, but since I have do so many other things, plus go to work, that means that I only have time to play this game when I “want” too, and that’s a problem. I don’t know if I’m going to finish this game.

I got the game back when it came out in August, and I’m just now at the Wolf legion. I have no idea how close that is to the end of the game, but I don’t feel like I’m very close at all.

I don’t know what it is about this game, but I just have a hard time wanting to play it. When I do play it, I have fun, but not enough to play it for hours on end. It’s just not hooking me like it should. Part of this could be that I’m not a “character action” guy, but that’s mainly due to me not having played many of them and not me not liking them, and the other part might be depression. Again, I don’t know. This doesn’t mean that I think it is a bad game. No. In fact, I think it is fantastic. It’s beautiful, plays great, the story is fun, so much customization, etc. There’s so much to do in this game, and most of it is great. The problem is that I just don’t care.

The game isn’t boring, but I have a sense of boredom while playing it. It’s a weird feeling that I can’t quite describe. You know what, it might be straight up depression. Regardless, I’m having a tough time getting into it. I like almost everything about it, and if I beat it, I feel I would give it a fairly high score, but I just can’t bring myself to play it. It’s not like I’m not playing other games. Currently, I’m playing Stardew Valley, Yakuza 2, Doom 3, Okami, and I even just started up the original Half-Life. It’s not like I’ve just started hating video games all of the sudden, but I just can’t keep playing Astral Chain.

It sounds as though I don’t like this game, or even think it is a bad game, but that’s not true. I do like the game, but it’s just so hard to go back to it. Hopefully, I do eventually find a way to complete it, but I just don’t know.

All of this being said, I do recommend it. Bizarre, I know, but I do really think people should play this, especially if you can find it on sale. There’s just so much to do, and everything in the game is so well done, apart from the story, which seems pretty cookie cutter anime.

All in all, the game is good. There’s nothing wrong with the game, but there does seem to be something wrong with me.

Spinning A lot of Plates

Howdy there! Been a second since I wrote anything. I have had a few ideas, but nothing has stuck, plus some of the ideas may feel a little out of place here. I’ve also been busy trying to “sell” my book. Had one publisher decline already, which is sort of a relief, but the other two have yet to respond. At least a decline means I can stop worrying. It’s not the best outcome, but it’s an outcome.

The newest venture I’ve taken on is Podcasting, if you haven’t noticed. I’ve tried this before in the past, but I’m taking it very serious this time. I already have five episodes up, and a way to make money off of it. People still need to listen to it in order for me to make any cash, but still, this is as serious as serious can be. I’ve wanted to do a show for a long time, and now I’m finally doing it! It’s also a hell of a lot easier to get my thoughts out through speaking than it is through writing. I know. If I have such a hard time writing, then why the hell am I writing? I don’t know. I just like doing it, but it takes a lot of work.

I’m also still streaming. Just went through another redesign of my layout, and while sort of harder to put together, it does look a lot better than it did before. Looks much more professional. Streaming, however, is the only video content I’m making at the moment. I’ve but abandoned YouTube. I’m even considering not archiving my streams. This whole COPPA thing is terrifying. I know I’m far from being famous enough to get noticed, but all it takes is one screw up, or one thing that I don’t read right or don’t understand, and I could be fined thousands of dollars. It’s just not worth the risk.

I got so much going on, desperately trying to find something that works. I tried focusing on just one thing, but saw no success. My best bet then became trying everything. I got this site, podcasting, streaming, and the book, not to mention trying to come up with something else to write. That’s a lot of stuff to be doing, but the only reason I haven’t done more is just lacking the ability/funds, otherwise I would be trying newer and crazier things.

Maybe it’s not the best idea, spinning so many plates, but it’s the only one I have at the time. It’s the only way I know to achieve some form of happiness. I guess I’m an artist, and I don’t know how to be happy without making some kind of art, whether it be good or bad.
